Welcome to Poucher (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We built Poucher to help treasure hunters, metal detectorists, arrowhead hunters, bottle diggers, rockhounders, and mudlarkers document and share their finds. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile applications and website (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
Account & Profile Data
When you create an account we collect your email address, username, and password (stored as a one-way hash). You may optionally provide a display name and profile photo.
Content You Create
We store the content you actively submit — hunt names, treasure titles, notes, photos, and GPS coordinates you choose to attach to a find. Location data is only collected when you explicitly tag a treasure; we do not continuously track your device location.
Usage Data
We collect anonymised analytics about how you interact with the Service (pages visited, features used, session duration). This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you individually.
Device & Technical Data
When you access the Service we automatically receive standard technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers. This is used for security and service-reliability purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Store and display your hunts and finds
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
- Analyse usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or illegal activity
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your personal data to serve behavioural advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.
Aggregated, non-identifying analytics data may be retained indefinitely to understand long-term product trends.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — Request that we delete your account and associated data.
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format.

Third-Party Services
The Service is distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Those platforms have their own privacy policies governing information they collect independently from us.
Any links to external websites are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if appropriate, by sending an email to the address associated with your account.
Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
